The United Vietnam Alliance (UVA) is a non-profit organization established on December 9th, 2024, under the laws of the State of Oregon as a 501(c)(3) entity. Our mission is to serve as a united global platform committed to fostering an alliance for prosperity and exchange with Vietnam. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to promote economic growth, cultural understanding, and mutual development between the United States and Vietnam.
Our Story
UVA was founded by a dedicated group of professionals with extensive experience and involvement in Vietnam across various sectors. The founding members—Amy Nguyen, James Nguyen, Amanda Bierbrauer, and Daniel Wong—bring diverse expertise and a shared vision of strengthening the ties between Vietnam and the United States.
Significant Milestones and Future Plans
UVA is proud to align its initiatives with critical historical milestones. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the normalization of U.S.-Vietnam relations, UVA plans to celebrate this momentous occasion actively through event plannings for May Trade month and summer golf event. This anniversary symbolizes decades of peaceful development, mutual prosperity, and a bright future for bilateral cooperation.
Through its programs and partnerships, UVA is poised to play a key role in deepening the ties between Vietnam and the United States, fostering meaningful connections that benefit communities on both sides of the Pacific.
Core Pillars of UVA’s Work
The UVA operates on four foundational pillars, each reflecting its commitment to bilateral development and cooperation:
1. Expanding Trade Networks and Infrastructure
Facilitating connections and investments to support economic growth and infrastructure development.
2. Knowledge and Educational Upskilling
For example, UVA aims to establish partnerships between three leading universities on the U.S. West Coast and three universities in Vietnam, fostering innovation and learning.
3. Community Development
- Initiatives include projects such as the “Name a Well” campaign, funding and installing wells in underserved Vietnamese villages, or organizing U.S. student groups to participate in development projects in Vietnam—building bridges of friendship and collaboration.
- Organize peer-to-peer development projects for families and youth to build bridges of friendship and improve access to infrastructure (e.g. clean water and energy) and capital investments (e.g. microfinance and fundraising platforms).
- Other potential projects will include supporting and promoting “microfinance” funding in underserved Vietnamese villages or organizing U.S. student groups to participate in development projects in Vietnam—building bridges of friendship and collaboration
4. People-to-People Exchange
In 2025, commemorating 50 years of Vietnam’s sovereignty and independence, UVA will prioritize people-to-people exchanges highlighting shared values, history, and aspirations.
Geographic Focus and Future Growth
UVA’s activities will initially concentrate on the U.S. West Coast, encompassing Washington, Oregon, and California. As membership and resources grow, the organization plans to expand its geographic footprint nationally and internationally. UVA welcomes new members who share its mission and values and invites accomplished individuals to join its advisory board, ensuring the alliance benefits from diverse insights and leadership.
